April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third Olympic medal. Ross wants to achieve more than her initial Olympic medal. This may be the last opportunity she gets at age 39. She remains optimistic that she will be able to win top awards. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well I'm sure we'll be able to win gold." Then I will also take the chance to have chances. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of activities while at Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school, she competed in basketball, indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely the best in the game of indoor volleyball. According to her bio, she was a middle blocker and outside hitter on the volleyball court during her high-school career. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the National Player in 1999. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed the partnership in 2017, However, Ross had been a beach-scene player for years prior to. In reality, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was an all-star volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013, she was partnered by Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Along with Kessy Ross, she won the World Championship in 2009, while racing internationally. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat out for gold. It was fate that had them. Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her collegiate time with the Trojans at USC in graduation from high school. It was a long time before Ross hit the sand and turned professional. She had a great run through the NCAA tournament. In 2000, as a freshman the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. In her sophomore season, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female college volleyball player. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the top levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. As a result, Ross remains near to her mother who passed away. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beach.
